A lot of times I've heard the stigma that a lot of the artists are gay (And i'm talking about lesbians too of course).
But as one of the gay community, I "bumped" into a lot of gay people that are creating art of all kinds - so I guess that the fact that a lot of artists are gay or lesbians, isn't such a stigma - maybe it's quite true.
Maybe we use it in order to express our feelings and our protests, and trying to say what we say to sociaety by art.
But unforunatlly despite the fact that a lot of artists are gay, the gay clubs in DA aren't that popular, and the most works we see that are popular in DA and connected to this subject are photographs or drawings of two women in a lesbian act - that created by man.
I'm not trying to stick to statistics of course, but most of the time that what I saw when I searched for gay art in DA.
And of course I'm not saying that this art isn't good...but I think it's expressing something really different.
So let's get to the point of this article. I'm not writing this in order to make a statement...I just want to explore you to some of the goods in my opinion of Gay Art in DA that didn't have enough stage time.
Some of them are trying to make a statement, some are trying to show some hurting situation in the community, some are just trying to show the beauty in it and some just want to be PROUD!
Some of the works here are made by Gay artists and some by Straight that are trying to support. Let's see if you find a different between those two

I really hope that the Gay art is just going to grow in DA!
Because we have A LOT to say in our art!

i agree....i feel the reason why a lot of gay people are artists is that they have lived in both worlds...straight (as in when they were growing up to conform to society's norms and values) and gay...so they are able to draw from those emotions and capture people's attention through art writings etc in attempt to educate those who are still in the dark ages!
I come from a huge and diverse family and have gay brothers and nephews and sisters and nieces...but none are artisitically inclined dammit
